Active Schools

sportscotland works in partnership with all 32 local authorities to invest in and support the Active Schools Network. The network consists of over 400 managers and coordinators dedicated to developing and supporting the delivery of quality sporting opportunities for children and young people.

The North Lanarkshire Active Schools team aim to support and provide quality opportunities for pupils to take part in sport and physical activity before school, during lunchtime and after school. They look to develop effective pathways between schools and sports clubs in the local community.

Active Schools has worked with schools for over 15 years, providing opportunities for children and young people to get involved, and stay involved, in sport and will continue to make a significant contribution to a world-class sporting system in Scotland.

Giving up your time to help others is one of the most rewarding things you can do in life. Although you don't get paid, the experience is priceless. It's also been shown that volunteers are among the healthiest and happiest people in society.

Volunteers are at the heart of all Active Schools programmes in North Lanarkshire. There are already almost 1,000 people who give up their time to help across a range of sports and activities. They include parents, teachers, coaches, students and senior pupils.

If you would like to help young people get the most out of sport there are dozens of ways to get involved. We have opportunities to suit everyone, whatever your interests, availability or experience. There are a number of roles available from coaching and administration to supervision and more.
